Jessie Frazier, 97, Glenwood

Jessie Frazier, 97, of Glenwood died June 1, 1996, at Glen Haven Home in Glenwood. Funeral services are today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at Mansfield-Hertz Funeral Home in Malvern. Interment was at East Liberty Cemetery near Malvern with Rev. Florentino Caoleo, Jr. officiating.

Ms. Frazier was born May 9, 1899, to John P. and Jeanette (Lambert) Frazier on a farm west of Malvern. She attended Pleasant Grove Country School and began teaching in the rural Malvern schools at age 16. She later attended the Iowa State Teacher's College at Cedar Falls and earned her Bachelor's Degree in elementary education from Peru State Teacher's College at Peru, Neb. She taught for over 40 years in the Malvern school system before moving to Calexico, Calif., where she taught for seven years. She spent the next year volunteering as a teacher in the V.I.S.T.A. program before returning to Malvern. Except for the eight years spent in California, Jessie lived in Malvern until moving to Glen Haven in June, 1990.

Ms. Frazier was a member of the Malvern United Methodist Church, Malvern Business and Professional Women, Malvern Garden Club, Mills County Genealogy Society and the Malvern Education Association.

She is survived by one brother, John Frazier of Seattle; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jake, Bert and Ted; infant sister, Ida, and sister, Trennie Merritt.

A memorial fund has been established.
